A beautiful journey through the book of Ruth that reveals how God transforms our difficult circumstances into opportunities to experience His grace and provision.

Introduction
In chapter 2 of the book of Ruth, we find a beautiful story of transformation and new beginning. After the affliction and loss of chapter 1, God turns the page to write a new story for both Ruth and Naomi.
This study shows us how God can transform our most difficult circumstances into opportunities to experience His grace and provision. The love story between Ruth and Boaz teaches us important principles about godly relationships, but more deeply, it reveals how Christ invites us to a new story with Him.

Base Text
Ruth 2:1-13
"Naomi had a relative on her husband's side, a man of standing from the clan of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz... And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, 'Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.' 'Go ahead, my daughter,' Naomi said to her..."
Continuation of the passage
"So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech."
This passage introduces us to the main characters and sets the stage for the divine encounter that would change the lives of Ruth and Naomi forever, revealing how God works through apparent "coincidences".
God Orchestrates the "Coincidences"
In verse 3, we find the key phrase: "it just so happened". This expression appears twice, but for God there are no coincidences. Ruth needed work and provision, and she "just happened" to end up in the exact field of Boaz, the family redeemer.
This apparent coincidence teaches us that God is continuously working behind the scenes, orchestrating divine encounters and opening doors that we cannot see. Often, when we are in our lowest moments - like Ruth, being a widow, a foreigner, and poor - it is precisely when God is preparing something extraordinary.
1
Need
Ruth needed work and provision as a widowed foreigner
2
"Coincidence"
She arrived precisely in Boaz's field, the family redeemer
3
Divine Purpose
God was orchestrating an encounter that would change her story
Characteristics of a Pious Person
Faithfulness to God
Ruth abandoned her land and gods to follow the God of Israel
Hardworking Character
She worked tirelessly from morning, showing diligence
Honor for the Family
Her loyalty to Naomi was extraordinary
Life of Prayer
Boaz blessed others with his words and prayers
Ruth did not have an "attractive profile" by worldly standards - she was a Moabite, a widow, and poor. However, she possessed qualities that made her beautiful in God's eyes. Likewise, Boaz presents a male model that contrasts with current cultural patterns, treating Ruth with respect and protection.
A Prophetic Picture of Christ and the Church
New Story of Grace
Complete transformation in Christ
The Communion Table
All are welcome regardless of our past
Boaz as Christ
The kinsman redeemer who invites us
Ruth as Humanity
Foreigners in need of redemption
The story of Ruth and Boaz transcends human romance to become a beautiful typology of Christ and His church. Ruth represents our original spiritual condition - foreigners to God's covenant, without any right to His blessings. Boaz acts as the kinsman redeemer, the perfect type of Christ, whose invitation reflects that of Jesus at the Last Supper.
